Amazon.com Product Description
Show off your enthusiasm for the South African World Cup with this official adidas World Cup 2010 Glider soccer ball. The Glider features a nylon-wound carcass paired with a TPU casing for a soft touch and high durability. The ball's butyl bladder, meanwhile, offers superior air retention, helping the ball stay inflated over time. Most importantly, the multi-surface ball delivers a great performance in all weather and field conditions.

The World Cup 2010 Glider's construction breaks down to 60 percent thermoplastic elastomerics, 30 percent thermoplastic polyurethane, and 10 percent polyester.

About adidas
The vision of company founder Adolf Dassler long ago became reality, and his corporate philosophy the guiding principle for succeeding generations. The idea was as simple as it was brilliant. Adi Dassler's aim was to provide every athlete with the best possible equipment. It all began in 1920, when Adi Dassler made his first shoes using the few materials available after the First World War.

The adidas name dates back to 1948, deriving from the first two syllables of Adi Dassler's first and last name. One year later, Adi Dassler registered the Three Stripes as a trademark.

After a period spanning almost 70 years, the Dassler Family withdrew from adidas in 1989, and the enterprise was transformed into a corporation ("Aktiengesellschaft"). French-born Robert Louis-Dreyfus was chairman of the executive board from April 1993 to March 2001. It was he who initiated adidas' flotation on the stock market in November 1995. adidas--a name that stands for competence in all sectors of sport around the globe. Today, the adidas product range extends from shoes, apparel and accessories for basketball, soccer, fitness and training to adventure, trail, and golf.

This product is what we espected, my son loves it, good texture and color design, and also size number 4 it's better to control for him..

5 out of 5 stars Fun soccer ball for the kids.   August 21, 2010
Christopher Bosken (Winston Salem, NC USA)
I got this ball for my toddler when I realized during the '10 world cup that we didn't have a suitable soccer ball for light play indoors and out.

I had to pick up a ball pump (the ball arrived deflated), but since we inflated it I have been really happy with the addidas ball. Needless to say my 18 month old is not exactly using it for intense competition though.

5 out of 5 stars World cup   August 20, 2010

This ball is awesome for 15 dollars. The ball is made with 8 parts instead of 32, making the ball the roundest ball ever made. The sides are heat-sealed instead o stitched, making it last longer.

3 out of 5 stars Smaller than official size, most likely not durable   August 6, 2010

I caught a bit of World Cup fever and purchased this ball in size 5 on a whim. It's a replica of the official Jabulani match ball. Instead of using the traditional Buckminster design, it uses a different pattern of stitched panels which confer a rounder shape. Here's how I rate the ball:

1. Meets official weight and size of 420-445g and 68.5-69.5 cm circumference? At 10 psi, the ball weighs 440 g. This is near the upper limit, but acceptable. On the other hand, the ball measures only 67.5 cm in circumference, less than the official size limits. 2 stars

2. Durability? The ball's construction contains a butyl bladder, a polyurethane core and a nylon-wound skin. A butyl bladder is standard for balls; the match ball uses EVA. The combination PU/nylon skin gives this ball a nice soft feeling to the panels, but I expect it to be much more prone to scuffing and tearing than pure PU skins. Of course, it's impossible to determine durability without long-term ownership. 3 stars

3. Looks? This ball is nowhere near as colorful or attractive as the official match ball, which has 11 colors. This ball has only 4 different colors. It also has a multi-color stamp that says FIFA World Cup, South Africa 2010. But it's only a stamp, so likely to rub off with a little use. 3 stars

Overall, I would say I'm a little disappointed with the ball. It makes for a fairly cheap souvenir of the 2010 World Cup, but not a very good training soccer ball. There are a lot of better options available.
